Yeah bro I think the number one most important thing you need to realize RIGHT NOW is that creating 10 or more hours of gameplay is HARD for ONE PERSON to do. It takes a LOT of time. Possibly more time than Ace has been out. Like what I am saying is someone could literally have been working continuously on just such a game in Ace since Ace came out and still not be done yet.

In the meantime I don't know this is pretty close, go nuts?

There's always been an unspoken implication in the RM community that, "hey, don't just take everything from a game you downloaded."

Believe me young man, the RM community's been around and I've been around in the RM community since long before even that unspoken implication existed. : )

Kids were filling their pockets with the contents of other kids' project folders over ten years before Final Fantasy Discovery would exist.

And generally speaking when I see someone leave a project unlocked, my assumption is they have rips in there they didn't make and they're just bein' a cool guy and not an asshole. So I'm glad we had this discussion and it's here for everyone to see, at least. (Some people are just going to be assholes anyway, and not even encrypting your project will prevent that--that's a fact of life. Determined assholes are everywhere.)

Anyway, I can totally dig what you're saying. (Generally speaking I'm just a habitual hoarder of stuff I never use in anything anyway. I think Jin69 said he was trying to go 100% custom graphics with the FF7 Demake, which sounds insane, but who knows, anything's possible. I'm honestly not that plugged in to the FF7 Demake, at least not yet.) But it is cool to see an explicit list of stuff that's off limits at this stage in the game. You're some cool dudes.

Rather than a PM, I think a list of which resources are rips that are free to use and which are original would make a great blog post.

Character stats, in the RSW release, I think were based on a mash-up of FFVI and FFVII models. It's a little different today, and relies more on FFVI, if I'm not mistaken. Damage formulae and stats are definitely NOT default.

Well in FFVI you've got 9 listed stats, Strength, Speed, Stamina, Magic, Attack, Defense, Evasion, Magic Defense, and Magic Evasion. And then in FFVII you've got a buttload more.

In FFD (RSW release) we have 6 listed: Atk, Def, Mag, M. Def, Spd, and Sta. Which seem to correspond more to the default VX Ace stats of Attack, Defense, Magic, Magic Defense, Agility and I'm guessing that Stamina is a re-purposing of the rather bewilderingly useless Luck stat.

But anyway I'm just curious because I have always found the way stats are handled in Final Fantasy games interesting and quite opaque/mysterious. (I certainly don't doubt that battle formula have been heavily customized.)

"Traitor" was actually a REALLY heavy term to throw around until we (humans) invented terrorist, heh.

I get that you're not making your game in a setting that even vaguely resembles medieval fantasy pseudo-europe it's just the screenshot you posted by virtue of the RTP...definitely vaguely resembles medieval fantasy pseudo-europe.
